Understanding metadata options for Aviator

When you upload content into Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro), you can add more metadata to the file that helps pilots better manage their data on Jeppesen Aviator. With this metadata, you can specify combinations of aircraft manufacturers, major models, and minor models.

The metadata that you enter appears in the Content Version Details dialog for that content item.

You can enter the following metadata:
Document Priority

Use the Document Priority options to route the content item to the appropriate folder in Aviator. You can set the document priority to one of these options:

  • Normal
  • Newsletter
  • Bulletin
  • Urgent
  • High Priority
  • Low Priority
  • Must Read
Airframe

You set the airframe type for the aircraft that the content is intended for. The Airframe options are Custom or Standard.

If you select Custom, JDM Pro displays the Aircraft Identifier field.

If you select Standard, JDM Pro provides selection menus for Aircraft Manufacturer, Major Model, and Minor Model.

Aircraft Identifier
If you select Custom as the Airframe type, use the Aircraft Identifier dialog to describe the aircraft.
Aircraft Manufacturer
Select one or more Aircraft Manufacturers.
Note: JDM Pro populates the Major Model list based on the options you select here.
Major Model
Select one or more Major Model types. The items in this menu are based on the Aircraft Manufacturer items you selected.
Note: JDM Pro populates the Minor Model menu based on your selections here.
Minor Model
Select one or more Minor Model types. The items in this menu are based on the Major Model items you selected.

To enter airframe metadata when you upload content, select For Aviator in the Content Metadata dialog.
