Registering a device from a mobile app (SAML)
If your organization is set up to use the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) registration method, users can register when opening a mobile app on a device for the first time.
Note: If you're interested in the SAML registration method, which allows
registering devices when pilots open Jeppesen or Boeing apps on
mobile devices for the first time, contact your Jeppesen account
manager.
If device registration from a mobile app is configured, Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) doesn't send a registration email to the pilot. Instead, the
device registration process is as follows:
- When the pilot uses a mobile device to open a Jeppesen or Boeing app for the first time, the pilot must enter appropriate credentials, including device name and company name. Your organization might store pilot user credentials on your organization's intranet site. The Single Sign-On (SSO) ability is provided by the SAML OASIS standard and manages a secure and reliable device registration process.
- Your organization's intranet site must generate an activation link, which the pilot
uses to open a mobile app (like FliteDeck Pro), and register the mobile device.Important: The device name that the user enters when signing in to the app must be the same credentials you enter when creating the device. If the device name isn't found in the SAML service database for that user, registration fails.
- After user credentials are verified, the app is activated and the mobile device is registered.
Note: If a pilot reregisters for any reason, such as after receiving a new mobile device, the
pilot must enter the appropriate registration credentials when opening an app on the new
mobile device.
