- Introduction
  This guide provides detailed instructions for using Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro). It includes initial setup instructions, information about the various parts of the application, and steps to complete common tasks.
- Overview
  Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) is a web-based application that administrators use to distribute data to mobile devices that run Jeppesen and Boeing applications. Administrators log in to the application to manage their fleets. JDM Pro is provided as Application Service Provider (ASP) software, where Jeppesen hosts and maintains the application.

  Before you use Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro), familiarize yourself with the user interface.
- Managing devices
  - About devices
    A device in Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) represents a specific mobile device in your fleet, such as a pilot's iPad.
  - Viewing the Devices list
    The Devices page displays a list of devices in your fleet.
  - Methods for creating devices
    Create a device record in Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) for each mobile device in your fleet and assign it to a distribution group. To receive content, a device must be a member of a distribution group, even if it's the only member.
    - Creating devices manually
      If you want to create only a few devices, it might be easier to create them manually instead of importing a CSV file.
    - Creating devices by importing a CSV file
      If you have several devices to create, you might find it easier to import a list of devices instead of creating them one by one. To create multiple devices at the same time, enter a list of devices into a comma-separated value (CSV) file and import that file into Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro).
      - Setting up the device CSV file
        Use a device CSV file to import multiple devices into Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro). To create the file, you can use any spreadsheet application that supports CSV.
      - Viewing a list of device import failures
        When an import fails, Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) displays an Import Failed dialog that shows more information about the reason for failure.
  - Device registration
    After you create a device, the mobile device user must register the device before working with a mobile app that receives data from Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro).
  - Editing device details
    You can use the Device Details box to change the details of a device. You can update all details except for the device name.
  - About assigning devices to a distribution group
    You can assign a device to a distribution group from the Devices page, or when you edit the device details.
  - Device status
    After a device communicates with Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro), the device status updates to show information that the mobile device reports when it connects to JDM Pro. You can see the device status in the Device Status column of the Devices page.
  - Viewing hardware information of devices
    After a device is registered, you can view the hardware (system) information for that device.
  - Viewing Assigned Content information
    You can view information about what's assigned to a device.
  - About device deactivation and reactivation
    You can deactivate and reactivate devices by using the menu on the Devices page. When you take a device out of service, Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) provides a more accurate look at the status of your active fleet.
  - Deleting devices
    When you delete a device, the device is moved to the Device Trash, where you can restore it or permanently delete it.
  - Generating reports
    Use the Reports page to generate and download reports for the devices in your fleet that have missing or expired content. You can also view devices that have content versions that differ from the content assigned to that device.
  - About roster checks
    From the Devices page, you can perform a roster check to view the status of devices.
  - Sending email reminders to devices
    Use the Devices page to send email reminders to one or more devices. The email that Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro) sends reminds pilots to update their applications before their next flight.

Creating devices by importing a CSV file

If you have several devices to create, you might find it easier to import a list of devices instead of creating them one by one. To create multiple devices at the same time, enter a list of devices into a comma-separated value (CSV) file and import that file into Jeppesen Distribution Manager Pro (JDM Pro).

About this task

When you upload a device CSV file, JDM Pro scans the file for viruses, and then creates the devices described in the file.

Important: Your organization might be set up so that a user registers when accessing an application on a mobile device for the first time. In this case, the device name that you enter must be identical to the one that the user enters when signing into the application.

Note: If you're accessing JDM Pro on an iPad, you can import a device CSV file only if you have a file management application installed on your device.

Procedure

From the JDM Pro menu, access the Devices page.
Go to + New > Import.
JDM Pro displays the Import Devices dialog.

Select Choose File.
Navigate to the device CSV file that you created, select it, and select Open.
Select Import.

JDM Pro begins to import the devices.

Note: If you select Cancel during an import, all successfully imported records stay in the system.

When completed, JDM Pro displays a status box that shows the number of successful and failed imports.
Select OK on the confirmation message.

Note: You can view the status of the import in the Activity Log.
